Exersizes - Quality not Quantity
The kathirina schroth scoliosis program which his done in 4 weeks consists of exercises to strengthen weak muscles on the back, and stretch tightened muscles on the back.
IMPORTANT: While performing these exercises the Quality of how you perform the exercises is more important that the quality (how many reputations) you do.
Get the quality right, then you will be on the right track. There is a certain technique to the exercises
Somebody performing 5 reputations of an exercise in the CORRECT way will a better result than somebody performing 15 reputations of the same exercise in the INCORRECT WAY.
Remember: QUALITY not QUANTITY

Thank you Dr Kris, Dr Amy and Dr Olga
This is down to 2 factors:
1) OURSELVES - working hard in our exercises
2) THE PHISIOS working hard and patiently with us,
so a HUGE THANKS to Dr Kris, Dr Olga and Dr Amy..
Not to forget Erika for opening up this clinic !
3 new physios- Kathrina, Debbie and Ella
There are also 3 new physios starting this course next week with the new batch of 15 scoliotic patients. They are Kathrina, Debbie and Ella. They have been assisting us with our exercises as trainee scolio-physiotheriposts.
Good luck to you all for your future success.
Your Scoliosis DVD - What did you think of yours ?
What was the first thought when you say yours?
Mine made me laugh, - the music seemed funny for some reason, with Kris speaking in the background lol.
+ in all of my exercises, the person who was exercising next to me that day, their left knee is in all of my video lol.
But i liked the fact that I can see my muscles from behind, so it was a good idea.
---------------------------------------------------------
What did you think of your scoliosis DVD, did it make you laugh at first?
EVERY BODY should leave a comment on this one....

Final Consultations - at the end of the 4 weeks
What was discussed in the consultation?
Before and after measurements (taken on day one, and in the last 'forth' week)
These included
-Pedeoscans = weight distribution on each foot
-Formetric scans = photographic pictures of the muscles at the back
-Vital capacity = lung/breathing capacity
-Height = how tall you are
-Weight = how much you weight
-Scoliometer readings = how big your scoliosis packet/hump is
-photographs = camera photos
Everybody was pleased in their consultation, and it went well.
The Last day of the 4 week clinic
We will be exersizing for the last time with the physios, and then after that we will be doing it at home.
The place will be missed, and everybody is happy with their results + measurments (including before and after photos)

MOTIVATION TIPS for your 30 minute home exersizes...
What do you to help motivate yourselves when you get tired and bored of your scoliosis exercises? Here’s a list of what I do and that you can use to help you keep focused.and motivated...
1) Look at BEFORE photos of yourself, to show how you used to be, which will help you Not to be like that.
2) Have BEFORE and AFTER photographs of your backs stuck on the walls infront of you, so that you have images to show how much you have improved. This will show you that you CAN improve, so might motivate you.
3) Have music playing in the background
4) Watch a motivating light exercise video
5) Change the order of your routine every 2 weeks-(cycle your workouts).ie, do them in the morning for 2 weeks, then evening for the next two weeks. This 'change' of routine stops me getting bored, as I get bored of the same daily routing. it gives a de-ja-vu feeling and makes me feel like i am living groundhog day lol.
6) Set yourself small realistic goals, work up towards these. Then set new ones. Ie- i want to
expand my ribcage expansion with your hands on rotational breathing on exhalation
7) Get somebody to help you do the exercises, a friend, partner, your mum, etc.
8) Try and ask your family to give you encouragement. I find family encouragement helps me a lot.
9) Listen to the experts and professionals’ advice and tips (Dr Kris, Dr Ulga, Dr Amy)
10) Take one day off every month to recover and relax (don’t eat tonnes of junk food in this time off though).
11) Do it for fun, enjoy what you do.
12) visualise and imagine yourself in the future - of how you imagine yourself to look in a few months time.
13) Treat yourself to a comfort food- as a reward, (e.g. chocolate)
I hope some of these helped...
Please leave your comments....
Thanks.. Sandeep

The black Tiles.....an evening meal out
A way to relax - A meal out at the Black Tiles...
My friend Russell has planned a night out today (Thursday) which is a meal at the Black tiles restaurant for about 10 of us.
I hope he isn't planning to get too drunk on this night, or I’ll be telling Kris the next morning, as he will have to be fully alert for 6 hours of exercise to do the following day - haha, joke!
Overall should be a good night out, something to take our minds of the exercise.
(This following part has been written AFTER going out to the black tiles)
We went to the black Tiles yesterday as I mentioned in my previous post....
How did it go? It was a nice evening out, everybody enjoyed themselves, and it made a change from seeing each other in the clinic. Food was great too.
Well recommended-

How long do I do the exercises for?

Rotational breathing revealed....
Rotational breathing is a special kind of breathing which is required for this course and the exercises. For somebody with scoliosis, they have one rib cage larger than the other. This makes the rib hump protrude out, and the other ribcage is collapsed in - smaller than the rib hump one.
Simplified, rotational breathing involves breathing into the flat part of your back backwards so the breath will apply pressure to it. This will push it outwards, and at the same time as the ribs are connected to the spine, this will derotate the spine.
As the spine gets derotated with each breath, then the humped part of the back will get pushed forward. So the whole ribcage will be rotational - hence, 'rotational breathing'
Now in a bit more detail....
Rotational breathing means you have to breath into your collapsed/smaller rib hump to expand it, and keep it expanded... then have a Long exhalation. Important While you exhale, keep the expanded 'smaller' ribcage expanded. This is hard to do at first, but gets easier with practice, and trust me they make sure you get alot of that at the clinic
You also place your hands on these weak 'collapsed' points, you start to feel them open and expand. This gives you a real buzz, that it is working ! lol
As time goes on, your weak points will get more flexible, and will open more.
As you do rotational breathing, your ribcage and spine gets derotated,- rotates the opposite way that it is rotated (as scoliosis patients spines' are twisted). This then pushes the rib hump inwards..
N.B. This will happen in good time, and is not an overnight thing, and more importantly will require COMMITMENT from you.
The more you put in, the more you will get out.

Inhale, Exhale, Elongate
"breath in, breath out, elongate, open weak side"
These are 4 main sets of words that you will hear Extensively throughout the course and will be drilled in your ear by the physicists, almost every 2 minutes !
I won't be surprised if i end up being turned into a zombie at the end of the course lol....but these are the main set of instructions you will be doing for the majority of the course while treatings your scoliosis. This is by using a special kind of breathing called "rotational breathing"
Please leave your comments below...Results- what to expect?
Results- what to expect? + When to expect them?
I would firstly like to point out that the amount of improvement that you get while doing this method is depends on how hard you perform the exercises throughout the 4 week course.
Some people don't try very hard, and get poor results, which is their fault for not working harder.
Some people work very hard, and see good results within the 3rd week.
so the harder you work, the better results you will get, it's a fact!
The types of results could be minor changes in your body
-muscles feel more flexible/soft
-breathing improves
- lung capacity increases
-you circulation of blood improves
-posture improves
-rib hump gets reduced
-height increase (N.B. You might only gain 1-2 cm increase at the end of this treatment,
don't expect an increase of 4-5 inches)
-feeling stronger
-pain decrease.
IMPORTANT
Now i would like to point out that these changes will not all happen at the same time, neither will they happen overnight. These changes will occur gradually as time goes on. Some of the changes might be noticeable after months of doing the exercises at home, but keep positive, you will improve.
Some patients come back after a year for a follow up examination by the clinic, and find that they have made more improvement while doing the 30-40 mins of exercises a day at home.
Remember, everybody’s body is different, and different people will improve at different rates.

Equipnent used?-
What exercise equipment is used in the Katharina schroth scoliosis treatment?
They is a lot of stretching, and strengthening of weak and tight muscles throughout the course, so different equipment is used for each exercise. The wall bars and a yoga mat become your best friend through out this 4 week course.
Here is a list of equipment used throughout the course...
-Wooden all bars
-yoga mat
_belt
-poles (this are long sticks with black bits on the end... and look like GIANT Matchsticks!)
-Strap
-bean bags
-wedges
-rubber band
_weight
-gym ball
-gloves
-wooded blocks
-fly squatter (for the flys in the summer)

How to correct your scoliosis?
(Do you Want to write this article? then email me + I will include your name at the TOP of the article...)
Uk clinic
Erika had scoliosis herself, and got treated for this method using the Katharina schroth method in the clinic in Spain. After she got some awesome corrections, she decided to open up her own clinic in the UK, so that she could help others cure their scoliosis. The Spain clinic agreed to train physios in treating scoliosis, so that they could come to the UK and be physios at this uk clinic. After she got funding for it, it was set up and they started treating patients with scoliosis. The results were great too, everybody showed improvement in some way.
This is the clinic me and the others are at currently, and is in Suffox, United kingdom. The address for this clinic is...

Katharina Schroth Non Surgical Scoliosis treatment.
We are using exercises and a unique breathing technique to reshape our backs into their Correct 'straight' position, from their incorrect, sideways position.
We are correcting posture,we are decreasing the rib hump on the back.

Who was Katharina schroth?
Katharina schroth was a German woman who had scoliosis. She wanted to find a way to correct her scoliosis without using surgery, but using exercises. Her daughter was a physiotherapist and they thought of an exercise program by trial and error to work muscles on the back which would correct her scoliosis.
How did she discover Rotational breathing?
Rotational breathing - came into kathrinas mind when she looked at a small sports ball which had
a dimple inside it. As she squeezed the ball it exerted pressure to the dimple from the inside, which pushed it outwards.
She thought that this 'inward' pressure on the ball could be used with the human body
if you exert pressure front he inside to the collapsed lung, you could Expand it outwards.
As this collapsed lung is connected by the spine, the spine would twist the opposite 'humped' ribcage forwards, so it would be a rotation effect. As this rib hump would be pushing inwards, as time goes on, and exercises would be performed, the muscles would eventually be educated to keep this correction of the rib hump going inwards. This would push the rib hump in, flattening it. ie- reducing it !

Me and my Treatment.
-You have to Work HARD during your 4 week course, at your exercises.
You have to be disciplined, and committed, as well as consistent - work evenly throughout the week, not hard on some days, and slack on others.
Keep corrections through out the day, - Some people go home after the treatment and think
"thank god, its over!" and just get lazy and slouch, and collapse their week sides of the back getting lazy. It is best to stay stretched, elongated and keep the corrections through out the night too.
N.B. This 4 week program is to work, exercise and relax. It is not an opportunity to go out clubbing everyday, go to the pub every night and get drunk, or just doss about, not paying attention to the treatment. You are there for a reason, that is to stay dedicated to the program, and keep your corrections through out the day.
You have to put 110 % effort
The more you do, the more you will get out! Simple as that. Dennis(the secretary at the clinic) mentioned to me that some of the past patients who have come to the clinic to correct their scoliosis have not worked has hard as they could have, so haven’t got very good results, then they complain that they didn’t get good results.
It is entirely their fault, for not putting their 100% effort. They put just 70% and expect miracles to happen work hard - they results will come steadily.
Not only do you have to work hard in the 4 weeks of the clinic, but also in the 30 mins you have to do at home.

About this blog
This blog is for anybody, but particularly anybody who has scoliosis and wished to correct themselves using this 3D exercise program. There wasn't much information on the internet about the Katharina schorth method of scoliosis correction which is why i decided to write this, explaining every aspect of the treatment, which I am currently doing at the uk clinic
Please do Contribute - Please leave Comments on this blog... (people on my group, people who are seeing this blog from the other side of the world, physios, etc) This is a Shared contribution blog.. ! If anybody from the clinic, in my group (or the other group) wants to write and explain what it is, you can explain it, I will include your written explanation in this blog, with your NAME included at the top
For example
"WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS- WRITTEN BY MICKY MOUSE
"Scoliosis is a deformity of the spine
.....
......
...... etc"
(now i know micky mouse doesn't have scoliosis, but it is just an example lol)

Welcome to my Scoliosis treatment Blog
Non surgical Scoliosis Treatment that Works!
Welcome to my Scoliosis 3D non surgical treatment (katharina-schroth) blog.
I have stabilized my scoliosis with an intensive 'talor made' series of exercises which have helped me manage my scoliosis. This has been done at the scoliosis clinic in the uk, which practices the katharina schroth method of stopping the progression of scoliosis.
Please view the rest of my blog - I will go into detail on exercises, explanations about scoliosis, and much much more.
Please leave your comments and feedback on my blog too - Especially if you were a patient at the UK clinic WHILE I WAS THERE !
Thanks Sandeep..
